Family Promise of Grand Rapids is the new umbrella name for IHN. Our name has changed to better reflect the expanding services we now offer our community. We minister to homeless families in the following five areas:
IHN (Interfaith Hospitality Network) provides shelter.
Rebuilding Individuals provides short term rent subsidy.
Partners in Housing provides home ownership.
Family Promise Mentoring helps families become self-sufficient.
Furniture Donation Program helps families furnish their homes.
Visit the Family Promise of Grand Rapids web site.
Our Parish is a Support Congregation for IHN. We partner with East Congregational Church, which has a temporary place for families to live. Our volunteers provide meals, supervise and play with children; help with homework and assist with overnight stays during the week the families are at East Congregational. We also collect supplies and donate funds to support the Greater Grand Rapids InterFaith Hospitality Network, a division of Family Promise.
Get involved! This is a wonderful opportunity for families to do something together. Bring your children along to help serve a meal and play with the other children. Let your children help select new or gently used household, personal or back-to-school items for the families, depending on what is needed. Watch the bulletin for details about our next service opportunity.
